Please join the Board of Selectmen on Thursday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. in person at the Madison Town Campus or via zoom for the Annual Town Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the state of the Town, review the Five-Year Capital Plan and receive the annual financial reports. SLR International Corporation will be hosting a Public Information Session at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Town Campus, Room A and remote via Zoom. Team members will provide an update on the Garvan Point Improvement project and be available to answer questions from the public.
The Town will soon commence construction and improvements to the HVAC systems at Town Campus, including construction of a geothermal well. The project has been designed to minimize impact to the daily operations of the town government. Nonetheless, while construction is ongoing, there may be inconveniences such as decreased public parking, changes in locations for selected services, traffic disruptions. All efforts will be made to keep town services readily available to all during this time period.
This month the Board of Selectmen is starting the 2024/2025 Budget Review process, including several Budget Workshops to develop the new Town Budget. A Budget Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 27th at 7 p.m. in the Hammonasset Room at Town Campus and on Zoom. At this meeting, the First Selectwoman will be presenting its recommended Budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Madison Alerts provides important information via text and email regarding storms and other issues of significant public interest, as well as the delivery of the First Selectwoman’s bi-weekly community update. The Town also offers a MadisonCT mobile app to make it easier to access public services and find information about town events at your fingertips. Pop-up notifications can be customized to fit your interests as well as request notifications of Town calendar events, see agendas of boards and commissions, get job postings, as well as other important alerts. The Town has contracted with Vision Government Solutions, Inc. to complete the town-wide revaluation of all real property in the Town of Madison effective for the October 1, 2023 Grand List. The Informal Hearings were completed December 28, 2023. Informal Hearing Assessment Notices were mailed out at the end of January to those property owners who had an informal hearing with Vision.
If you still wish to appeal your assessment, you must file a written appeal to the Madison Board of Assessment Appeals between February 1, 2024 through February 20, 2024. The forms are available online at https://www.madisonct.org/assessment-appeals and in the Assessor’s Office.
Individuals who have completed and filed a timely Petition form will be granted a hearing before the Board of Assessment Appeals. If an agent represents you, a Notarized Agent Form must be on file with your petition or brought to your hearing. This is the time to present any and all evidence supporting your estimate of Fair Market Value.
