The town has held two Public meetings to discuss and solicit feedback from residents on the proposed revisions to the Tax Abatement & Freeze Program for Certain Elderly and/or Totally Disabled Homeowners Ordinance. Town staff, the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance have been working together to streamline the application process, simplify the benefits, and expand the current program(s) to help some of our most vulnerable residents. Please click to view the proposed ordinance, supporting documentation, and a recording of the Public Hearing. The Board of Selectmen will solicit additional information at their meeting on Monday, November 27th before voting to adopt.
The town will hold a Special Town Meeting on Wednesday, November 29th at 6:00 p.m., in the Auditorium at Polson Middle School for the following purpose: (1) To approve a Special Appropriation of $810,783 for the Town Campus Geothermal project. This appropriation is being made in anticipation that the Town will receive over $1 million in green energy rebates from Eversource and the federal government, reducing the overall project cost to Madison tax payers.
