2023 Municipal Elections

Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th. Please read the important information below.  Absentee Ballots are available in the Town Clerk’s office through November 6th.  You can obtain an Absentee Ballot Application in the Town Clerk's office or from the town website. If you choose to vote by Absentee Ballot, please remember to only submit one Application to the Town Clerk. Additionally, the Application must be fully completed, or it will be returned to you. The drop box located outside of Town Campus is open to receive Applications and Ballots. Absentee Ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For those residents who missed the deadline to register to vote, Connecticut allows Election Day Registration (EDR). To register and vote on Election Day, please visit the Madison Town Campus, 8 Campus Drive, Room A from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polls and Election Day Registration (EDR) will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7th, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  at the following voting locations:

  • District 1 voters go to Walter C. Polson Middle School, 302 Green Hill Rd.
  • District 2 voters go to Robert H. Brown Intermediate School, 980 Durham Rd. (Rt. 79)
  • EDR voters go to Madison Town Campus, 8 Campus Drive, Room A

Public Meetings on the Senior Tax Relief Ordinance Proposed Revisions

The town will be holding two public meetings to discuss and solicit feedback from residents on the proposed revisions to the Tax Abatement & Freeze Program for Certain Elderly and/or Totally Disabled Homeowners Ordinance. Town staff, the Board of Selectmen and the Board of FInance have been working together to streamline the application process, simplify the benefits, and expand the current program(s) to help some of our most vulnerable residents. There will be a Public Information Session (in person only) on Thursday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, and a Board of Selectmen Public Hearing on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m. at Town Campus and Remote via Zoom. Further information on these meetings including meeting links, viewing the proposed ordinance, and supporting documentation can be found on the town website.


Rockland Preserve Native Pollinator Habitat Planting Fest 2023

The Rockland Preserve Advisory Committee is looking for volunteers to help plant shrubs and perennials for its native pollinator habitat at Rockland Preserve on Saturday, October 28th, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (rain date Oct 29). Please meet at Renee’s Way Trailhead, 99 Renee’s Way. For questions and to RSVP email Jean at jroch9998@yahoo.com. All ages welcome!


Autumn Moonlight Walk

Bring a flashlight and join us for an evening stroll on the Garvin Trail at the Surf Club. As always, a bagpiper will lead the way. After the walk, refreshments will be served in the Surf Club building. Members of the Astronomical Society of New Haven will set up telescopes for viewing the moon, planets and stars in the night-time sky. FREE and Open to the public. Sponsored by Madison Beach and Recreation and the Madison Land Conservation Trust. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Meets at the Surf Club. October 29th, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m


Trunk or Treat

Madison’s Traditional Halloween favorite, Trunk or Treat, will be held on the Town Green on Tuesday, October 31st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Organized by the Madison Chamber of Commerce, Madison Police Department and the Town of Madison, this event offers an opportunity for families to gather in a safe outdoor environment to celebrate Halloween. Decorated car trunks are welcome but must be registered in advance. Registration ends on 10/30/2023


Save the Sound Surf Club Beach Cleanup

Come to the beach on Election Day (no school) for the annual community cleanup. Help to make our beaches cleaner and remove potential deadly hazards to marine life. Along with picking up trash, we will record the types and quantities of debris removed. The Ocean Conservancy and Save the Sound use this data to better understand what types of materials are polluting our beaches. All supplies will be provided. For all ages. November 7th, 1:00 p.m., - 4:00 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register with Save the Sound: https://www.savethesound.org/


Veterans Day

Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. the Town, in coordination with local veteran’s organizations, will be holding Madison’s annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the monuments on the Town Green. All are welcome to attend this commemoration service to honor those who have served our country in the armed services.


CT Energy Assistance Program Applications

The Madison Senior Services is currently taking applications for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program for Madison residents age 65 and over. Please contact the Senior Center at 203-245-5627 to check for eligibility. Adults and families can contact Madison Youth and Family Services for eligibility assistance at 203-245-5645.
