Madison Community Update

First Selectwoman's community update

Cooling Center at the Senior Center Open Tonight until 8 p.m.

The Town of Madison’s Cooling Center will be open until 8 p.m. tonight at the Madison Senior Center at 29 Bradley Road. We are in the final day of a 3-day heat wave spreading across the state. High humidity and smoke from the Canadian wildfires are making outdoor activities uncomfortable. Please be cautious when participating in outdoor activities. Tips on how to stay cool can be found on the Town website

LAST DAY to Complete the Strategic Plan Survey

Please note that today is the deadline for the Town’s Strategic Plan Survey. Your voice is a very important part of the Town’s strategic planning process which was launched earlier this year.  The Strategic Plan will include a Community Vision, the Mission of the Town, Strategic Priorities and Key Goals that will set the direction for our work in coming years and align the Town in purpose and work. Let your voice be heard by taking the survey!

START SURVEY

For more information about the Strategic Planning process and to keep up to date on meetings relating to this effort, check out our webpage dedicated to this initiative: www.madisonct.org/strategicplan

The Madison Rotary Club is sponsoring its annual Madison Rotary Carnival from July 12 to July 15 from 6-10 p.m. daily at the Academy fields. For more information, please visit https://madisonctrotary.com/

Tax Bills

The 2022 Grand List tax bills were mailed in late June.  The first installment of tax on the 2022 Grand List was due July 1, 2023. The last day to pay the July 1, 2023 installment without penalty is August 1, 2023 (US Postmark).

The tax office is accepting payments in person, by mail, and through the Tax Payment Drop Box (located on the exterior wall of the Tax Collector’s Office).  M&T Bank offers in-branch tax payment processing during the month of July for current tax bills.  The original tax bill must be provided at time of processing.  Tax bills are also viewable and payable online at www.madisonct.org/taxpayments

Special Town Meeting Monday July 24th

Please be advised that the town will hold a Special Town Meeting on Monday, July 24th at 6:30 p.m., at Town Campus to approve a special appropriation of $2,400,000 from the Town’s unassigned fund balance for the construction of additional classrooms at the new Pre-Kindergarten- Grade 5 school on Mungertown Road. An overview of the funding plan for the Madison School Renewal Plan can be found at on our website.

Visit the New Elementary School Building Committee webpage for information on the status of the new elementary school project.

Have a great weekend Madison!
