Strategic Plan Survey Extended to July 7th

Please note that the deadline for the Town’s  Strategic Plan Survey has been extended to July 7, 2023.   Your voice is a very important part of the Town’s strategic planning process which was launched earlier this year.  The Strategic Plan will include a Community Vision, the Mission of the Town, Strategic Priorities and Key Goals that will set the direction for our work in coming years and align the Town in purpose and work. Let your voice be heard by taking the survey!

Summer Concert Options 🎵

The Town will be welcoming back the U.S. Coast Guard Band for a free concert in Madison this Sunday, June 25th at 6 p.m. on the Town Green. The Coast Guard Band is the premier band representing the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. Join us for a collection of patriotic music to kick-off our summer concert series.

The Town also sponsors a concert series at Salt Meadow Park. For more information on the dates and line-up for the summer, please visit the Salt Meadow Park website.

Bike Safety Rodeo for Young Riders

Madison’s Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is sponsoring a bike safety rodeo for young bike riders to learn and practice their skills.  An experienced team will check bike helmets and guide riders through fun activities to promote bike safety.  The event will be held this Saturday, June 24 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Madison Senior Center, 29 Bradley Road.

Independence Day Special Events

A reminder the  schedule for this year’s July 4th activities has been finalized.

  • 7/1:  Madison Cultural Arts will be holding a free concert featuring the Wallingford Symphony on Saturday, July 1st, starting at 7 p.m. Come early and catch the Caribbean Band Moto at 6:15 p.m. Please visit https://madisonculturalarts.org/ for more information.
  • 7/2:  Madison Fireworks will be holding its annual fireworks show on Sunday, July 2nd at 9:30 p.m. Bus service for visitors to the Surf Club will be available from selected parking areas in Town earlier in the evening. Check the Town website for more details.
  • 7/4  Madison Exchange Club will be sponsoring its annual Independence Day parade on Tuesday, July 4th. Step off will be at 10 a.m.

Special event parking policies at Town beaches along with planned road closures will be in place throughout the holiday weekend. More information will be available on the Town’s website.

Special Event Parking Policies at Town Beaches for July4th Weekend

On Friday, June 30th, Beach Parking Passes will only be sold at the Madison Chamber of Commerce Building at 12 School Street from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon.  No passes will be sold in person again until Wednesday, July 5th at the regular location at the Surf Club office.  Please make sure to purchase your parking pass prior to June 30th if you want to visit the Town beaches during the holiday weekend.  Residents will be able to purchase online and show your receipt at the check point.

Please note that purchase of a beach sticker or a daily parking pass does not guarantee parking availability.  Once a parking lot is filled, all cars will be turned away regardless of a pass so please plan accordingly.  Visitors and residents can request a refund for a daily parking pass if it is unused.

Parking at Lowry Field over the holiday weekend will require a beach sticker or daily parking pass. Lowry will be staffed from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1st, and from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Please visit the town website at www.madisonct.org/July4

Madison Fireworks Organization

Please consider donating to the Madison Fireworks Organization. This organization completely underwrites the July 4th Fireworks show for the Town of Madison, through individual donations. Aside from the generous donation of police services from the town, each year they raise over $50,000 to provide a wonderful experience for our citizens and visitors over the festive July 4th weekend. For more information or to donate please visit www.madisonfireworks.org/donate

Tax Bills

The 2022 Grand List tax bills were mailed on June 21, 2023.  The first installment of tax is due July 1, 2023 and the last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2023.  The tax office is accepting payments in person, by mail, and through the Tax Payment Drop Box (located on the exterior wall of the Tax Collector’s Office).  Tax bills are also viewable and payable online at www.madisonct.org/taxpayments.

Dog Licenses

I want to remind Madison dog owners that June is dog licensing month in Connecticut. This year the Town is offering many options to obtain a license, including an online renewal of previous licenses.  Please visit the Town Clerk’s website or call 203-245-5672 for more information.

Veterans Awards Ceremony

If you are a Vietnam-Era or/and Korean War Veteran living in the Town of Madison you should have received a letter inviting you and your family to a Veterans Awards Ceremony scheduled for June 28th at 5:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Daniel Hand High School. If you have not yet RSVP'd or if you did not receive a letter, please RSVP to the First Selectwoman's Office with a list of attendees to Jaclyn Lehet at lehetj@madisonct.org or calling (203) 245-5602.

Have a great weekend Madison!
