First Selectwoman's Community Update

While we continue to experience extreme hot weather throughout the summer months, the Town will continue to activate cooling centers for residents to escape the heat when necessary. Please visit the Town website for more information on cooling center locations and hours.

I also want to remind residents that we are now in the middle of hurricane season. Please take a few moments to ensure that you and your loved ones are prepared for possible storm events, including extended power outages.  For information on ways to prepare for hurricanes, please visit:hurricane symbol

Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) is developing a Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan for 15 municipalities in South Central Connecticut, including Madison. The purpose of the plan is to provide the region with a comprehensive examination of all natural hazards affecting the area and to provide a framework for informed decision-making regarding the selection of cost-effective mitigation actions. Please take the survey and contribute your ideas regarding lessening the impact of natural hazards in our region. For more Information and to take the survey, please visit www.scrcog.org/regional-planning/regional-hazard-mitigation.

Summer Concert Options

This Sunday, July 24th, Madison’s Beach & Recreation will be welcoming the Tracy Walton Band at 6 p.m. to its weekly Summer Concert series on the Town Green.  Please visit the website at www.madisonct.org/concerts for more detailed information for the series.

ARPA Grant Program

A reminder that the America Rescue Plan Committee is currently accepting applications from Madison-based small businesses, non-profit organizations, and Town service departments to assist in their recovery efforts from the COVID-19 public health emergency. Examples of local organizations awarded ARPA funding include: the American Legion, Madison Ambulance Association, Madison Cultural Arts, Madison Hose, and North Madison Fire. The committee will award fund on a rolling basis until the funds are exhausted. They meet again on August 11, 2022 to consider applications received through August 4th. Please visit the ARPA Committee website for more information on the committee and the grant award process.

August Primary

The Republican and Democratic Primaries will be held on August 9, 2022.  Absentee Ballots are now available in the Town Clerk’s office and can be requested by filling out an Application for an Absentee Ballot. Applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office and available to download from the Town Clerk site.

You must be a registered Republican or Democrat to vote in your respective Primary. Check your party affiliation and voter status on the Secretary of the State's website. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 9th. District 1 voting will take place at Polson Middle School and District 2 voting will take place at Brown Intermediate School.  More information on the Primary, absentee ballots, and voting locations is available on the Town Clerk site https://www.madisonct.org/vote.

Tax Bills

Please note that the 2021 Grand List tax bills were mailed in late June to Madison taxpayers.  The first installment of tax was due July 1, 2022 and the last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2022. Tax bills are also viewable and payable online. The tax office is now accepting payments in person, by mail, and through the tax collector’s drop box outside Town Campus.

Have a great weekend Madison!
