September 11th Remembrance Ceremony
Please join the Exchange Club and state and local elected officials this Sunday to honor those men and women lost 21 years ago on 9/11. To pay tribute to those killed in the terrorist attacks and also to recognize and honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, the Town will be holding its annual remembrance ceremony on the Town Green on Sunday, September 11th, at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
CT Energy Assistance Program Applications
A reminder that Madison Senior Services is currently taking applications for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program for Madison residents age 65 and over. If you are a senior in need and worried about your home heating bills for this upcoming winter, please contact the Senior Center at 203-245-5627 to check for eligibility.
Madison Jaycee’s Dave Parcells Triathlon
The annual Jaycee’s Dave Parcells Triathlon will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 10th at 7:00 a.m., at the Surf Club, Madison Town Beach. The race includes a .5 mile swim in Long Island Sound (wetsuits allowed), 13 mile bike around through the back roads of Madison, 3 mile run along the beautiful Madison shore. Note that this may result in traffic issues and delays. For more information on the event please visit the Madison Jaycees website.
ARPA Grant Program
Earlier this year the Board of Selectmen established a, public committee comprised of volunteers and representatives from the Selectmen, Board of Finance and Board of Education to disburse funds awarded to the Town through the America Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (known as ARPA). This committee is currently accepting applications from Madison-based small businesses, non-profit organizations, and Town service departments to assist in their recovery efforts from the COVID-19 public health emergency. Examples of local organizations awarded ARPA funding include: the American Legion, Rockland Preserve Pollinator Garden, Madison Ambulance Association, Madison Cultural Arts, Madison Hose, and North Madison Fire. Committees & Commissions
Madison has over 60 boards and commissions run by resident volunteers who help make our Town such a great place to live. The Town currently has vacancies on several important boards and commissions, including Planning & Zoning Commission, Conservation Commission, Economic Development Commission, Inland Wetlands Agency, Senior Citizen Commission, and Shellfish Commission, among others. Please consider dedicating some of your volunteer time by serving your community. Absentee Ballot Applications Available
The Town Clerk would like to remind residents that the 2022 State Elections are scheduled for Tuesday, November 8th. Although Absentee Ballots are not available until October 7th, Absentee Ballot Applications are available in the Town Clerk’s office or from the website. The Town Clerk’s drop box is now open to receive applications. More information on the election, absentee ballots and voting locations is available at www.madisonct.org/vote.
