Drought Conditions

I would like to remind residents that we are experiencing Stage 2 Drought conditions throughout the state, including Madison, due to precipitation across the state being below normal, potentially impacting local water supplies, agriculture, and natural ecosystems. Connecticut Water customers are being asked to be mindful of water usage and take sensible steps to reduce water usage by 15%. This includes:

  • Reduce automatic outdoor irrigation
  • Postpone the planting of any new lawns or vegetation
  • Minimize overall water use by fixing leaky plumbing and fixtures
  • Follow any additional conservation requests issued by water suppliers or municipalities

Tips on water saving measures can be found on the Department of Public Health’s website

On Monday, August 22, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., the Board of Selectmen will conduct a Public Informational Session in Town Campus, Room A and via Zoom on proposed revisions to the Town Charter. The Town Charter is the document that defines the organization, powers, functions, and essential procedures of our Town government. Residents will have an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed changes to this document by a referendum vote this November. A copy of the full proposed Charter draft can be found on the website at www.madisonct.org or requested through the Town Clerk’s Office at 8 Campus Drive, Madison, CT. Meeting details can also be found on the town calendar.

Beachcomber Night

On Thursday, August 18th the Madison Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the return of Beachcomber Night to downtown Madison from 5:30 p.m., to 8:00 p.m. Beachcomber night is an outdoor event featuring live music, wine, & beer tastings, food vendors, and drawings for great prizes. The event will span both the north and south sides of Rt. 1, as well as Wall Street. Part of this year’s proceeds will benefit Madison Ambulance. Please visit the Chamber’s website for more detailed information and to pre-purchase tickets.

Back to School

Please note that Monday, August 29, 2022 marks the start of the school year for children enrolled in Madison Public Schools. I want to wish our teachers, administrators, parents, and most importantly our students, a healthy and successful school re-opening for this academic year.  For more information including orientation dates, 2022-2023 calendar, and much more visit the district's Back to School page

Summer Concert Options

This Sunday, August 14th, Madison’s Beach & Recreation will be welcoming The Larry Stevens Band at 6:00 p.m., to its weekly Summer Concert series on the Town Green.
