[ARCHIVED] First Selectwoman's Community Update

First Selectwomans community update

First Selectwoman's Community Update

I am so grateful that this year we were able to enjoy a wonderful July 4th holiday weekend with all our traditional Madison events, including spectacular weather. The fireworks were fantastic, the parade was enthusiastic, and the concert was inspirational. I want to thank all the hardworking volunteers who put these events together, and give special recognition to the Beach & Recreation staff, Madison Police Dept. personnel, and our volunteer fire members for their dedication to making these events safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Summer Concert Options

This Saturday, July 9th at 5 p.m., Madison Beach & Recreation will be hosting its second concert at Salt Meadow Park, welcoming Savile Row. For more information on the dates and line-up for the Salt Meadow Concert Series, please visit the Salt Meadow Park website.

Beach & Recreation will also be welcoming Coyote River Band this Sunday, July 10th at 6 p.m. to its weekly Summer Concert series on the Town Green.  Please visit the website at https://www.madisonct.org/710/Summer-Concerts for more detailed information for the series.

ARPA Grant Program

Earlier this year the Board of Selectmen established a, public committee comprised of volunteers and representatives from the Selectmen, Board of Finance and Board of Education to disburse funds awarded to the Town through the America Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (known as ARPA). This committee is currently accepting applications from Madison-based small businesses, non-profit organizations, and Town service departments to assist in their recovery efforts from the COVID-19 public health emergency. Examples of local organizations awarded ARPA funding include: the American Legion, Madison Ambulance Association, Madison Cultural Arts, Madison Hose, and North Madison Fire. Please visit the ARPA Committee website for more information on the committee and the grant award process.

August Primary

The Town of Madison would like to remind residents that the Republican and Democratic Primaries will be held on August 9, 2022.  Applications for Absentee Ballots are now available to download from the Town Clerk's website.  Applications can be returned to the drop box located outside of Town Hall, near the entrance that faces the Town Gym. Absentee Ballots will be available beginning July 19th from the Town Clerk’s office.

You must be a registered Republican or Democrat to vote in your respective Primary. Check your party affiliation and voter status on the Secretary of the State's website. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 9th.  More information on the Primary, absentee ballots, and voting locations is available on the Town Clerk site https://www.madisonct.org/vote.

Tax Bills

Please note that the 2021 Grand List tax bills were mailed in late June to Madison taxpayers.  The first installment of tax was due July 1, 2022 and the last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2022. Tax bills are also viewable and payable online. The tax office is now accepting payments in person, by mail, and through the tax collector’s drop box outside Town Campus.

Have a great weekend Madison!
