[ARCHIVED] Test Kit Distribution - Jan 12

Test Kit Distribution

Good afternoon, this is First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons with important information on a new COVID test kit distribution.

The Town recently received a new shipment of additional at-home COVID tests from the state of Connecticut. Similar to our previous allotment, the Town will set aside test kits for Town essential services, public safety, and vulnerable populations, and make some available to the general population.

Those who were not successful in securing time slot last time have already been invited to register via an email sent earlier today from Veoci.  Please use the link in the email to start a new registration for this distribution. You may need to check your email junk/spam folder for this message.

Test kits will be distributed on a drive through basis at the Madison Surf Club this Wednesday, January 12th from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Residents can secure a one-hour pick-up time slot by registering on-line through this sign-up form on the Town website which will be available starting tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. The online registration will remain open until no more time slots are available.

Online registration is on a first come, first served basis and open only to Town of Madison residents aged 18 years and older with a valid street address and e-mail address. Successful registrants will receive an e-mail confirmation with a QR Code they can use when picking up their tests. Please be patient when awaiting a confirmation and QR Code. The Town needs to go through a verification process for each submission, which can take up to one day. Time slots are allocated on a time stamped basis. Once again, we do not have enough tests for all residents. Please DO NOT register if you received a test kit through the previous distribution.

Test kits will be limited to 1 per household since the new kits we received contains two tests.  In addition, you will also receive 4 KN95 masks with your test kit. Please note the Town received a large supply of these masks from the state which will be available for pick up at locations throughout Madison later this week. More information will be forthcoming on the times and locations.

Do not come to the Surf Club if you have not pre-registered. In order to pick-up your test kit at your allotted time slot, you must have the e-mail confirmation/QR Code available and bring a valid ID and proof of residency, or you will be turned away. The person who registered for the test must be present in the vehicle at pick-up and show proof of ID and residency in order to receive their test kits. Proof of residency includes a driver’s license, tax bill, or car registration with a Madison address, or a 2021 Beach Sticker affixed to the vehicle.

Given we have limited quantities of test kits, please follow the Center for Disease Control recommendations for those who should be testing, including people with symptoms of COVID-19 or people who have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19. These tests are a temporary stop gap measure to stop the spread and not intended for work related surveillance testing for the unvaccinated.

Please also note that the Madison Senior Center and Youth & Family Services also have a limited supply of test kits for homebound seniors and other vulnerable populations having difficulty accessing the system. Please contact the Senior Center for additional information.

Thank you for your patience as we work to make this process as easy as possible for residents.
