[ARCHIVED] First Selectwoman's Community Update

First Selectwomans community update

COVID Update

We are fortunate that Madison’s COVID cases are in the decline. We currently have 10 active cases in our community and are starting to see the benefits of our high vaccination rates.  As always, the Town is actively monitoring cases in Madison and will continue to refine and adjust policies to adapt to changing circumstances.  We continue to encourage everyone to please wear a mask in any indoor public space throughout Town, including local retail stores, restaurants, churches, and other indoor settings.

Important Community Surveys

The Town of Madison wants to hear from you through two important public surveys on issues important for our community.

The members of the Ad Hoc Affordable Housing Committee are asking Madison residents to participate in a survey on housing needs in our town. The committee consists of volunteers who are charged with creating an Affordable Housing Plan for Madison that will increase our affordable housing stock in a way that fits within our community.  The Committee wants to create a successful plan that Madison residents will want to implement in the future and that will allow many – such as seniors on fixed incomes, teachers, firefighters, and shop employees who work in Madison - to live in our community.  To take the survey, please visit the Town website at  www.madisonct.org/HousingSurvey.

The Madison Beach and Recreation Commission is seeking community feedback on programs, facilities, and customer service.  This information helps them better serve you in the future.  A link to their online survey can be found on the Beach and Recreation Department page at www.madisonct.org/BRsurvey and will close on November 12th.

Community Events

I am excited to announce the return this year of two treasured community events after last year’s cancellations due to COVID. The Madison Beach and Recreation Department and the Bauer Park Advisory Committee is hosting the Bauer Park Harvest Festival, a free, family friendly event that offers fun cultural and environmental experiences for Madison residents of all ages. This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bauer Park located at 257 Copse Road.

We are also excited to announce that a traditional Halloween favorite, Trunk or Treat, is back this year on the Madison Town Green. This year’s event will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 31st.  This great annual tradition is organized by the Madison Chamber of Commerce and the Madison Police Department, offers a great opportunity for families to gather in a safe outdoor environment to celebrate Halloween. Decorated car trunks are welcome but must be registered in advance at www.madisonct.com

Enjoy this beautiful fall weekend Madison!
