Good evening, this is First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons with today’s bi-weekly update.
Unfortunately, the weather is not co-operating with our Independence Day celebrations. Due to the rain and expected cloud cover this evening, Madison Fireworks has postponed tonight’s fireworks display to Monday, July 5th at 9:30 p.m.
A reminder that special event parking policies are in place starting today, through the long July 4th holiday weekend (Friday, July 2nd through Monday, July 5th).
The Madison Exchange Club will be sponsoring its annual Independence Day parade on Sunday, July 4th. Step off will be at 10 a.m. from the Stop & Shop parking lot and conclude at the Surf Club. All road closure information and beach policies for the long holiday weekend is available on the Town website at www.madisonct.org/July4
A final reminder that I will be shifting my weekly community updates to a bi-weekly schedule every other Friday. The next community alert will be on July 16. As we celebrate the birth of our nation this weekend, let’s be grateful that we are able to gather together with family, friends, and neighbors this year to enjoy all our traditional celebrations. Our success in fighting, and ultimately overcoming, this recent pandemic is a result of our nation’s long tradition of innovation, resiliency, courage and steadfastness.
Happy 4th of July Madison!
