Dear Residents,
Over the last week we’ve had three new positive cases of COVID-19 in our community. While it is disheartening to see an increase, we are actively monitoring each case through contact tracing and grateful that the state overall continues to see downward trends.
In order to prevent resurgence, the Governor announced today a travel advisory requiring a 14 day quarantine for those people traveling into Connecticut from states that demonstrate significant community spread. States included are Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Washington. These restrictions will also apply to visitors to Connecticut hotels, lodging facilities and short-term rental properties. More details on quarantine requirements can be found on the Governor’s website.
As we enter the summer season, a reminder that beach stickers are now required to park at any of our town beaches seven days a week. Beach parking is restricted to residents only Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Non-resident and guest parking passes can be purchased and used at our beaches Monday through Thursday only. Resident beach stickers can now be purchased on-line through the Beach & Recreation website (www.madisonct.org/beachstickers) or in-person at the Surf Club office. While enjoying our beaches, please remember to exercise social distancing and mask wearing when social distancing cannot be maintained. The more vigilant we are today, the more likely we can continue on a path toward normalcy.
I also would like to remind the public that an appointment in advance is required to access in-person services at Town Campus. If you have an appointment, please use the main public entrance which is across from the Police Department. Residents wishing to drop off any documents or forms for Town departments can use a drop box located in the vestibule at the main public entrance.
And finally, I want to notify everyone that this will be my last weekly update through the CTAlerts emergency notifications system. In order to receive weekly updates going forward, please make sure you are subscribed to the Town Newsletter email list. You can do so by visiting www.madisonct.org/list.aspx. You will need to input your email address, then scroll down the list to “News Flash” and choose the “Important Madison News - Town Newsletter” to subscribe; there is an option to receive an email as well as a text message.
I want to thank everyone for your patience, understanding and compliance during these difficult times. We have all been on a long journey together since March and need to continue to exercise caution in order to ensure a full recovery for our community. Please stay safe and healthy Madison.
