[ARCHIVED] Reminder: Ad-Hoc Government Study Committee Questionnaire

Ad hoc government study questionnnaire

From the Ad-Hoc Government Study Committee:

The last voter approved Charter Amendment was in 2006.  During the election of 2019, both First Selectmen candidates indicated a need to review the Charter as required periodically by state statute.  Importantly, there was also discussion whether the Town Meeting/Board of Selectmen form of government remains the best solution for Madison or should other forms be considered as well.

With the seating of the Board of Selectmen in November of 2019, work commenced on forming an Ad-Hoc Government Study Committee.  The selected Committee members were broadly tasked with the following:

“The Committee shall consider different forms of government permissible under state statute and make recommendations for possible changes to Madison’s government structure and/or charter.”

In keeping with that charge, the Committee respectfully requests your thoughtful participation in the attached questionnaire as it will help guide and inform our fact finding process. Responses are not meant to be specifically about the current administration, but the overall government operations in Madison.  The questionnaire will be available until July 8, 2020.

Thank You
