Dear Residents,
We are entering this week with 92 confirmed positive cases for the virus in Madison and 12 fatalities within our community. While any new fatalities and infections are disheartening, we believe community spread is starting to slow and our social distancing policies are working; however, we must remain vigilant in our efforts. More detailed demographic information on our recent cases can be found on the Madison Health Department’s website.
As the weather warms, many residents are starting to look to our beautiful beaches for recreation. Currently, resident beach pass stickers will not be required at town beaches until June 20th. They are available for sale now by mail through the town website. In person sales will begin on May 26th at the Surf Club office, and on-line pass sales are anticipated to be launched sometime in June. We understand many of you are concerned about recent crowds and the ability to maintain social distancing while at the beach. We are exploring different policy options to protect the public’s health and safety at our facilities during this emergency crisis, and will communicate any new changes once they are finalized.
I also continue to hear a number of residents raise concerns about pedestrian behavior in high traffic areas such as Middle Beach Road. Remember social distancing requirements must be adhered to while enjoying exercise by walking six feet apart and single file, and wearing a mask if you are unable to stay 6 feet apart; this includes bicycles. All vehicle traffic on any town roads should be limited to essential travel only, and walkers and bikers must be respectful of oncoming traffic. The Madison Police Department will be stepping up a presence in these areas during high traffic times to monitor activity and ensure people are behaving in a safe manner.

Madison Youth and Family Services continues to offer help to those families struggling financially through its special COVID assistance program.
