[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - April 22, 2020

COVID-19 updates

Dear Residents,

Today, Madison has 54 positive cases of COVID-19 infections. Going forward, when it is possible, we will be providing more detailed demographic information for these cases on the Madison Health Department’s website.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health is now forecasting the state to reach a peak infection rate sometime later next month, highlighting an important need for increased testing and contact tracing in our area.  Governor Lamont announced yesterday that the state is seeking organizations to partner with in its efforts to significantly scale-up its daily COVID-19 testing capacity as part of efforts to reopen the state’s economy. This is in addition to the rapid testing site recently launched by CVS-Health in New Haven.  This appointment-only site is located at the former Gateway Community College site at 60 Sargent Drive and offers results in 15 minutes.  More information is available at the CVS website

I also want to remind residents that today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.  In commemoration, we are encouraging residents to go out and clean up litter in a local area of your choosing. A dumpster is available through this Sunday in front of Memorial Town Hall for those wanting to dispose of collected trash.  Please use your own gloves, mask, and a sturdy garbage bag.

For those residents wanting to receive town updates via telephone, please go to to sign up for the phone calls and text messages. We cannot register anyone for these updates; you must register yourself. Other helpful information includes:

And finally, another reminder that masks are now required to be worn in public spaces if you are unable to practice social distancing. This, along with staying home whenever possible, is the best way you can stay safe and healthy.

Peggy Lyons
First Selectwoman
