[ARCHIVED] Shoreline Law Enforcement Diaper & Wipe Drive

Shoreline Law Enforcement Diaper Drive Feb 1-16, 2018 at Madison Police Department

Shoreline Law Enforcement Diaper & Wipe Drive For Bare Necessities Inc.

Beginning February 1st and continuing through February 16th, the police departments of Madison, Clinton, Guilford and Branford will be conducting the Shoreline Law Enforcement Diaper Drive to benefit Bare Necessities. Inc. Each police department will be a drop-off location for diapers, and baby wipes.

According to Bare Necessities, Inc., need for diapers is an issue that has an effect on public health, employment and maternal mental health. Families needs between 6 and 12 diapers per day and without enough diapers for an entire day, children cannot attend even government subsidized daycare. Failure to have sufficient diapers means that children are forced to remain in soiled diapers longer than appropriate thereby leading to diaper rash, staph infections and urinary tract infections. Additionally, not being able to provide enough diapers is listed as the #1 stressor of need affected families.

Items such as diapers and wipes are not covered under SNAP (food stamps) or WIC (Woman, infants and children). Therefore, the shoreline police departments are asking for the assistance of all of our residents in collecting these items for families in need.

We are inviting the public and the media to our kick-off announcement at the Madison Police Department on Wednesday, January 31st at 2pm.

Donations will be accepted 24-hours per day, 7 days a week in the lobbies of the Madison, Clinton, Guilford and Branford Police Departments. The Madison Police Department is located at 9 Campus Drive. For more information please visit the Bare Necessities, Inc. website at . For any questions, please contact Captain Joseph Race at 203-245-2721.
